Isn’t it so fascinating when we reflect and finally see a golden thread weaving through life, highlighting the twists and turns of our journey on becoming good at something we really love? Impressive how many creative ideas you had along the way x
I related to so many things you said in this post!! I did the same thing with my dolls and toys growing up, where they each had their own backstories and personalities and storylines, but I'd never made the connection that was my love of storytelling showing at an early age. And I too was a drama kid. I was completely obsessed with theatre and was convinced acting was my true calling in life lol. But then when I was 15, I did a full pivot to being obsessed with writing instead, and it's been that way ever since. Now I'm studying English and writing at university.
I found it so interesting to read about your writing journey, I agree that reflecting on how we became writers and why we love writing is so important. Best of luck with your writing journey in the future!! btw, that epic sci-fi space opera sounds like something I'd love to read or watch :)
Oh, the Sims! xD I can relate to that. It's so amazing to create a story in real time and watch the chaotic mess unfold.
I also believe that our childhood interests is a revelation of what our true nature enjoys. And just as you, I felt ashamed for not having read all Harry Potter books until my twenties (+ not being a fast and avid reader). But after all, we all have different reading preferences and habits.
Thanks Emilie. It's so funny how I feel a bit ashamed to say I wasn't an avid reader from a young age. Doesn't make it a prerequisite to write at all 😄
I started writing in my head really, as a kid. I combined that with making scenes with my GI Joes. I got into comic books and drawing. It is part of my story how that all was abandoned and led to some very bad stuff, as far as finding myself. I will not get into that. I have been writing a great deal, and my thing is non-fiction. I can relate to this story. I took a screen writing class in college, it was so much fun. I am a teacher but that is really an art too, and storytelling. I am all revved up to try to make a little mark on the art world and publish books.
Thanks for sharing. A screenwriting class would have been so much fun. Best of luck on your path to publish books. So good to meet others in a similar path to share the experience with
