I feel the same: wanting to feel worthy of having a 'best' friend. I used to dream about it. Someone who'd be super close, who I'd be comfortable sharing my life with. But I guess I grew up pretty introverted, and enjoy my own privacy and solitude, so in the meantime, I'm trying to become my own best friend ;)

Still, I believe calling your life partner as your best friend is the ultimate friendship goal.

I had best friends when I was younger. But I’ve always moved a lot-cross country and even overseas- and never kept the closeness after the moves.

Once I got into my 30s, I kind of even stopped making friends 🫤 I guess I met my husband and he took center stage in my world, and everything/everyone else kind of fell away.

I am grateful to have him, but I do sorely miss having friendships and other connections… we have moved back near my family, and I at least have them now, so all of my need for connection is not put upon my husband… but yeah, I dunno… it feels like friendship as a midlife adult is way harder to create?? It’s likely just me and my awkward in creating connections ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I see many audits my age and older having no trouble with it

Oh I agree! So much harder in your 30s. If it weren't for me living in the same place and having the same friends since high school I probably wouldn't have any friends now either 😅.

I've had a few best friends over the years. I'm still friends with them. A couple are "sisters," others I'm still friends with. Like you, I met my husband early on in life. I was 18 when I met him on his 20th birthday. We've been together 36 years. He is my constant best friend. Even when we moved around with the Army, he was always there. Sure, I had "best" and "good" friends but none that have always been in close proximity.
